| Wil MacKay, educated at the
Boston Latin School and at Boston University, began his Fine
Art studies at The Boston Museum of Fine Arts at the age of 7,
with Rosenthal and LeBrecht. Followed in later years by
private Landscape study with Bosch of Lanesville,
Massachusetts, Still Life and Floral painting with Nelle C.
Sieg of Rockport, Massachusetts, and Landscape and Marine art
with John M. Buckley of Rockport, Massachusetts.
Buckley was one of the founders of the Rockport Art
Association, and was owner of Motif #1 in Rockport harbor.
Buckley used this famous subject, painted by thousands of
artists over the years, as his Studio until years later when
the building became the permanent property of the Town of
Rockport, and of the ages!
As a young artist, MacKay had the unique experience and
education of observing great painters such as Emile Gruppe;
Anthony Thieme; and Aldro Hibbard working at their craft in
and around Rockport and Gloucester.
